We only select high quality plant and mineral based ingredients that are safe to human body and have the least impacts on the environment.

Veg & Veg mild peppermint toothpaste contains no artificial colouring [9] [10], artificial fragrance [11], artificial flavoring [8], glycerin [3], fluoride [1], SLS or SLES [15], in addition the entire product including its packaging is free from plastic.

We choose not to have the ingredients above in our toothpaste in order to offer customers an option to choose from, as well as making an informed decision.

Main Ingredients’ functions explained

 Aloe vera

Veg & Veg mild peppermint toothpaste contains a high percentage of aloe vera. This is because aloe vera has anti-inflammatory agents [12] and powerful antioxidants [13] that ease gingivitis, gum infections, periodontitis and other irritations in the mouth. Its natural multi-antiseptic agents also help to inhibit the growth of fungi, bacteria and viruses.

 Sorbitol

Naturally existing in various fruits and berries, sorbitol helps to protect teeth against decay [5].

We choose sorbitol over glycerin because glycerin leaves a coating on the teeth, which affects oral health by building-up plaque, inhibiting the remineralization of enamel, and creating conditions for accelerated tooth decay or cavitation in our mouths [3] [4].

 Stevia extract

As a natural sweetener extracted from stevia leaves, stevia extract [6] [7] is used in our toothpaste instead of artificial sweeteners.

Veg & Veg mild peppermint toothpaste avoids any artificial sweeteners because of the concerns linking to cancer [8].

 Clove essential oil

Veg & Veg mild peppermint toothpaste uses clove essential oil instead of fluoride in preventing tooth decay. Clove has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties, which are very effective in reducing tooth decay [2]. Health authorities continue to conclude that fluoride is unequivocally safe, despite studies have shown that fluoride exposure has a direct link with adverse effects on neurodevelopment, the pineal gland, and the hippocampus [1].

 Cocamidopropyl betaine

Derived from coconut oil, cocamidopropyl betaine [14] is chosen as a foaming agent in our toothpaste. Due to its gentle and mild nature, cocamidopropyl betaine has been used in many infant and baby personal care products since its first made in the 1950s.

Though Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) are both widely used sulfate foaming agents, we decide to choose cocamidopropyl betaine because both SLS and SLES have animal cruelty, health and environmental concerns [15].
